Zubat is a dual-type Poison/Flying Pokémon first introduced in Generation I. Known for its perpetually dark habitat in caves and forests, Zubat is a nocturnal creature that uses ultrasonic waves for echolocation, allowing it to navigate and hunt without relying on sight. Its evolution line includes Golbat and, from Generation II onwards, Crobat, a significantly faster and more powerful form. Zubat's prevalence in nearly every cave across the early Pokémon games made it a common, if sometimes annoying, encounter for players, cementing its iconic status. Despite its commonality, Zubat plays a significant role in the Pokémon universe, often depicted as a nuisance for trainers but a vital part of the ecosystem. Its type combination gives it weaknesses to Psychic, Electric, Ice, and Rock types, while being resistant to Fighting, Poison, Grass, and Bug types, and immune to Ground attacks. In the anime, Zubat often appears in large swarms, further emphasizing its colonial nature. Its design, a simple bat-like creature with large ears and no visible eyes, perfectly conveys its reliance on sound.
