Aerodactyl, the Fossil Pokémon, is a Flying/Rock-type Pokémon from the Kanto region, introduced in Generation I. It is known for its majestic appearance, resembling a prehistoric Pteranodon, and is revived from an Old Amber fossil. This ancient Pokémon once soared through the skies, preying on other Pokémon with its powerful jaws and sharp talons. Its natural habitat was likely mountainous regions and cliffs, where it could easily take flight and hunt. Aerodactyl does not have any evolutionary stages, making it a standalone Fossil Pokémon. In the anime, Aerodactyl has appeared in various episodes, often depicted as a powerful and formidable creature from the past, notably in "Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon" where Ash's Charizard briefly encounters one. Its unique typing gives it resistances to Normal, Flying, Poison, and Fire types, but also weaknesses to Water, Electric, Ice, Rock, and Steel types. Aerodactyl holds significant cultural importance as one of the original Fossil Pokémon, representing the intriguing concept of bringing ancient creatures back to life within the Pokémon world.
