Staryu is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Known as the StarShape Pokémon, its body is composed of a hard, brown, five-pointed star with a red gem, or core, in its center. This core, called its "core gem," glows in a rhythmic pattern, believed to be its heart. Staryu is found abundantly in the ocean, clinging to the seafloor with its numerous small feet. It is a nocturnal Pokémon, often seen swimming gracefully in the dark depths, its core gem emitting a soft, pulsating light. Staryu evolves into Starmie when exposed to a Water Stone, gaining an additional star-shaped body and powerful psychic abilities. In the Pokémon anime, Misty, one of Ash's original companions, famously owns a Staryu, showcasing its speed and versatility in water battles. Staryu's simple yet iconic design has made it a recognizable figure since the early days of the franchise, representing the vast and mysterious world beneath the waves.
