Sandile is a Ground/Dark-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V, first appearing in the Unova region. Known as the Desert Croc Pokémon, Sandile is characterized by its black mask-like markings around its eyes, which are actually membranes that protect its eyes from the sun and sand. Its body is primarily a sandy color, with black stripes. Sandile is perfectly adapted to its arid habitat, living buried in the sands of the desert to regulate its body temperature. The sun-warmed sands prevent its body temperature from dropping too low, allowing it to thrive in extreme heat. Its diet consists mainly of small insects and other desert creatures it ambushes from beneath the sand. Sandile evolves into Krokorok starting at level 29, which then evolves into Krookodile starting at level 40. In the games, Sandile is often found in desert areas like Route 4 and Desert Resort in Unova. In the anime, Ash Ketchum catches a Sandile that eventually evolves into a Krookodile, becoming one of his prominent Pokémon. Sandile’s dual typing makes it resistant to Psychic, Ghost, and Dark attacks, while being weak to Water, Grass, Ice, Fighting, and Bug types. Its design and evolutionary line have made it a popular Pokémon among fans, embodying the rugged charm of desert fauna.
