Snorunt is an Ice-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III with the release of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Known as the Snow Hat Pokémon, its appearance is reminiscent of a triangular-shaped hat or a snow-covered rock. Snorunt inhabits frigid regions, often found in caves or areas with heavy snowfall, making its natural habitat one of extreme cold. Its diet consists primarily of snow and ice, which it consumes to survive in its harsh environment. Snorunt are known to be social creatures, often living in groups, and their playful nature is sometimes overshadowed by superstitions in areas where they are believed to bring heavy snowfall if seen at midnight.

Snorunt has a unique evolutionary path; it evolves into Glalie at level 42, a fierce, floating head Pokémon. Alternatively, a female Snorunt can evolve into Froslass when exposed to a Dawn Stone, a graceful and ghostly Ice/Ghost-type Pokémon. In the games, Snorunt often serves as an early-game Ice-type option, and its evolutions are popular for their distinct battle roles. In the anime, Snorunt has made several memorable appearances, notably being caught by Ash in the Hoenn region, where its mischievous antics and eventual evolution into Glalie provided significant character development. Its design, based on a yukinko (a Japanese snow spirit), contributes to its cultural significance, endearing it to fans worldwide as a symbol of winter and resilience. Its Ice typing makes it strong against Grass, Ground, Flying, and Dragon types, but weak against Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel types.
