Silcoon

Silcoon is a Bug-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III, first encountered in the Hoenn region. Known as the Cocoon Pokémon, it is the first evolutionary stage of Wurmple, evolving from Wurmple at level 7 during the day, and then into Beautifly at level 10. Silcoon's body is entirely encased in a tough, white silk cocoon, which provides excellent protection from predators. Its diet consists of tree sap, which it absorbs through a small opening in its cocoon. Silcoon remains almost entirely immobile, hanging from tree branches while it conserves energy for its next evolution. Its behavior is characterized by its passive and defensive nature, focusing solely on its metamorphosis. In the games, it is typically found in forests and wooded areas, reflecting its natural habitat. In the anime, Ash's Wurmple famously evolved into a Silcoon, highlighting its role as a transitional stage. Culturally, Silcoon symbolizes patience and transformation, embodying the quiet, preparatory phase before a vibrant emergence. Its connection to Wurmple and Beautifly makes it a key part of one of the more iconic early-game evolutionary splits in the Pokémon franchise.
