It is unique among Pokémon for its ability to change forms, shifting between Full Belly Mode and Hangry Mode. This transformation is directly tied to its hunger levels, a fascinating biological quirk that influences its behavior and appearance. In Full Belly Mode, Morpeko is more docile and has a cheerful disposition, with a rounder, purple and grey form. When it becomes hungry, it shifts into Hangry Mode, becoming more aggressive and changing to a darker, more menacing purple and black coloration. Morpeko is native to the Galar region, where it is often seen foraging for berries, particularly the elusive and highly sought-after Oran Berries. Its diet consists primarily of these berries, which it stores in its cheek pouches. If it doesn't eat regularly, its hunger becomes extreme, triggering its form change and a surge of electrical energy. In the games and anime, Morpeko is notably associated with Marnie, one of the rival trainers in Pokémon Sword and Shield, who has a Morpeko as her signature Pokémon. This strong connection has elevated Morpeko's cultural significance, making it a fan-favorite for its quirky personality and powerful electrical attacks. Its dual-type nature also gives it an interesting strategic edge in battles, being resistant to Electric, Flying, Steel, Ghost, and Dark types, but weak to Fighting, Ground, Bug, and Fairy types.
