Unown are enigmatic Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II, known for their resemblance to various letters of the alphabet and punctuation marks. Each Unown form corresponds to a different character, and they are said to have influenced the creation of written language. They typically reside in ancient ruins or dimensions parallel to our own, often appearing in large groups. Their behavior is largely mysterious, with their main known ability being to communicate through telepathy and to subtly alter their surroundings. They do not evolve from or into any other Pokémon. In the games, they are often found in specific locations like the Ruins of Alph, and collecting all their forms is a unique side quest. In the anime, they played a central role in the third Pokémon movie, "Spell of the Unown," where their collective psychic power could alter reality based on a young girl's wishes.
