Pyukumuku, the Sea Cucumber Pokémon, is a pure Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII, native to the Alola region. Its distinctive appearance, resembling a black sea cucumber with bright pink spines and a white star-shaped mouth, makes it easily recognizable. Pyukumuku are known for their somewhat melancholic demeanor and their unique defense mechanism: when attacked, they expel their internal organs, which are sticky and can be used to trap predators or as a makeshift fist. They primarily inhabit shallow, warm coastal waters, often found clinging to rocks or coral. Their diet consists mainly of plankton and microscopic organisms filtered from the water. In the games, Pyukumuku are often encountered as passive creatures, sometimes requiring the player to "throw" them back into the sea as a side quest. Despite their seemingly helpless nature, they are surprisingly resilient. Culturally, Pyukumuku are revered in Alola for their role in cleaning the ocean, and there are even jobs dedicated to throwing washed-up Pyukumuku back into the water. They do not evolve from or into any other Pokémon, making them a standalone species with a unique biological niche.
