Poochyena

Poochyena is a Dark-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III, first appearing in the Hoenn region games Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Known as the Bite Pokémon, Poochyena is a small, quadrupedal canine-like creature with grey fur, a black snout, and distinctive black markings resembling stars or jagged edges on its body and face. It evolves into Mightyena starting at level 18. Poochyena are often found in forests and tall grass, where they live in packs. Their diet primarily consists of smaller Pokémon, which they hunt with their powerful jaws and keen sense of smell. They are known for their persistent nature, chasing down prey until it becomes exhausted. In the Pokémon anime, Poochyena are often depicted as wild Pokémon, sometimes causing mischief or appearing as loyal companions to trainers. Their role in the games is typically as an early-game encounter, helping players understand type matchups and the importance of evolution. As a Dark-type, Poochyena is strong against Psychic and Ghost types but weak against Fighting, Bug, and Fairy types. Its design, reminiscent of a mischievous pup, has made it a recognizable and somewhat endearing figure in the Pokémon world, representing the wilder side of the Hoenn region's diverse ecosystem.
