Poliwhirl, the Tadpole Pokémon, is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Poliwag starting at level 25 and then evolves into either Poliwrath when exposed to a Water Stone or Politoed when traded holding a King's Rock. Poliwhirl is known for the swirling pattern on its belly, which is said to be able to lull opponents into a hypnotic state. Its skin is always moist and slick, helping it to move easily both in and out of water. Poliwhirl primarily inhabits freshwater ponds and rivers, often found near the surface where it can bask in the sun. Its diet consists mainly of small aquatic insects and plants. In the Pokémon games, Poliwhirl is a reliable mid-stage evolution, offering decent stats and access to various Water-type moves. In the anime, Misty, one of Ash's companions, owned a Poliwag that evolved into Poliwhirl. Its unique design and evolution line make it a memorable Pokémon from the original 151, representing the classic aquatic life found in the Kanto region.
