Paras, the Mushroom Pokémon, is a fascinating Bug/Grass type first introduced in Generation I. This unique creature is recognizable by the two parasitic mushrooms, known as Tochukaso, that grow on its back. These mushrooms have a symbiotic relationship with Paras, draining nutrients from the host while also providing it with defensive capabilities through toxic spores. Paras typically inhabits damp, forested areas where fungi thrive, often found burrowing underground to feed on tree roots or emerging to forage for other organic matter. Its diet primarily consists of tree sap and nutrients absorbed by the mushrooms. As it evolves into Parasect, the mushrooms completely take over, controlling the host's body. In the Pokémon games and anime, Paras is often depicted as a somewhat timid creature, but its evolved form is considerably more formidable due to the mature Tochukaso. Its unique dual typing provides both advantages and disadvantages in battle, making it a memorable early-game encounter for many trainers.
