Minior is a unique Rock/Flying-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII, first encountered in the Alola region. Known as the Meteor Pokémon, Minior lives high in the stratosphere, absorbing cosmic dust until its outer shell becomes too heavy, causing it to fall to the planet's surface. When its sturdy, rock-like outer shell breaks upon impact or through battle, its core is revealed, which can be one of several vibrant colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, or violet. The color of its core is determined by the composition of the dust it absorbs in the atmosphere. Minior does not evolve from or into any other Pokémon, making it a standalone species. In the games, Minior's ability, Shields Down, allows it to change form when its HP drops below half, shedding its defensive shell to become more offensive. This mechanic reflects its lore of breaking its outer layer. In the anime, Minior have been depicted as shy but powerful Pokémon, often shown in groups, making their dramatic descent to Earth. Its unique celestial origin and colorful variations have made it a recognizable and charming addition to the Pokémon roster, often associated with meteor showers and the vastness of space.
