Magnemite is a fascinating Electric/Steel-type Pokémon first introduced in Generation I. It is characterized by its spherical grey body, a single large eye, and two horseshoe magnets attached to its sides, often with a screw-like appendage on top. Magnemite is known to float in the air using electromagnetic waves, often seen in groups around power plants or areas with strong magnetic fields. Its diet is believed to consist of electrical energy, which it absorbs through its magnets. In the wild, Magnemite are often attracted to each other, forming larger groups that can sometimes evolve into Magneton. Its behavior is generally docile, but it can emit powerful electrical shocks when threatened or agitated. Magnemite evolves into Magneton at level 30, which then evolves into Magnezone when leveled up in a special magnetic field area (or by using a Thunder Stone in later generations). As an Electric/Steel type, it has a unique set of type matchups, being resistant to Flying, Steel, Electric, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ice, and Fairy, while being weak to Ground and Fire. Magnemite has played various roles in the games and anime, often appearing as a common electrical Pokémon or as a companion to characters like Lt. Surge.
