Emolga is a dual Electric/Flying-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V, making its debut in the Unova region. Known as the Sky Squirrel Pokémon, Emolga is characterized by its adorable, squirrel-like appearance with large, expressive eyes and black fur with yellow accents, particularly on its cheek pouches and wing-like membranes that allow it to glide. These membranes are extensions of its skin that stretch between its forelegs and hindlegs, enabling it to soar gracefully through the air. Emolga is often found in forested areas, particularly in trees, where it makes its nests in hollows or holes carved out by other Pokémon like Pikipek. Its diet primarily consists of berries and bug Pokémon, which it effectively subdues using electric shocks before consuming them. In the Pokémon anime, Emolga gained considerable popularity through Iris's mischievous Emolga, showcasing its playful yet sometimes demanding personality. It is a Basic Pokémon and does not evolve from or into any other Pokémon, making it a standalone species. Emolga's Electric/Flying typing gives it a unique set of resistances and weaknesses, being immune to Ground-type attacks in the main series games due to its Flying typing, while being vulnerable to Rock and Ice types. Its design and behavior reflect its real-world inspiration from flying squirrels, blended with the electrifying characteristics of Pikachu and its various "Pikaclones."
