Elekid is an Electric-type Baby Pokémon introduced in Generation II, making its debut in Pokémon Gold and Silver. As the pre-evolution of Electabuzz and, later, Electivire, Elekid resembles a small, yellow humanoid creature with black stripes and a plug-shaped head. Its natural habitat includes power plants and areas with high electrical activity, where it often gathers electricity by spinning its arms. Elekid generates electricity by swinging its arms, and if it encounters a lightning strike, it will absorb the electricity and become even more active. Despite its small size, Elekid is quite energetic and can deliver a powerful electric shock. In the anime, Elekid often appears as a mischievous but good-hearted Pokémon, notably with Casey, a recurring character who is a big fan of baseball and Electric-type Pokémon. Its evolution line represents a classic example of a single-stage Pokémon gaining pre-evolutions and later evolutions in subsequent generations, expanding its family tree. Elekid is weak to Ground-type moves, resistant to Flying, Steel, and Electric types, and plays a role as a fast, early-game Electric-type option in the video games, eventually evolving into strong attackers. Its design, reminiscent of electrical plugs and outlets, makes it an iconic and easily recognizable Baby Pokémon.
