Ekans, the Snake Pokémon, is a pure Poison-type creature introduced in Generation I alongside the very first Pokémon games, Red and Blue. It is known for its distinctive purple coloration and yellow bands, and its ability to constrict prey. Ekans evolves into Arbok starting at level 22. In the wild, Ekans typically inhabits grassy plains and forests, often found near water sources where it can ambush its prey. Its diet primarily consists of bird eggs and small rodents, which it disables with its venomous bite before constricting them. In the Pokémon anime, Ekans is famously associated with Jessie of Team Rocket, serving as one of her original and most loyal Pokémon. This portrayal cemented its image as a cunning and sometimes mischievous, but ultimately devoted, companion.
