Ekans, the Snake Pokémon, is a pure Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is known for its distinctive purple scales and the rattling sound of its tail, which it uses to intimidate foes. Ekans evolves into Arbok starting at level 22. In the wild, Ekans typically inhabits grassy fields, forests, and caves, where it can easily ambush its prey. Its diet primarily consists of the eggs of bird Pokémon, and it's known to swallow them whole. This often leads to a humorous (and sometimes dangerous) situation where a swallowed egg gets stuck, causing Ekans to faint. In the Pokémon anime, Ekans is famously associated with Jessie from Team Rocket, who owned an Ekans that later evolved into Arbok, becoming one of her most iconic Pokémon. It has also appeared in various spin-off games and manga, solidifying its place as a recognizable and classic Pokémon from the Kanto region. Its Poison typing makes it effective against Grass and Fairy types, but vulnerable to Ground and Psychic attacks.
