Diglett, the Mole Pokémon, first burrowed its way into the hearts of trainers in Generation I, making its debut in the Kanto region. This Ground-type Pokémon is renowned for its simple yet iconic design, consisting primarily of a brown, cylindrical body with a large, pink nose and two small, oval eyes. Diglett is almost always depicted with only its head visible above ground, leading to much speculation and fan theories about what its full body might look like beneath the earth. Its natural habitat is typically underground, in caves, forests, or plains, where it digs tunnels that help aerate the soil, contributing to healthy plant growth. Diglett primarily feeds on roots, which it is adept at finding with its sensitive nose. It evolves into Dugtrio at level 26, gaining two more heads and significantly increasing its digging prowess. In the games, Diglett is often encountered in caves like Diglett's Cave, a famous shortcut between Vermilion City and Route 2. In the anime, Diglett often serves as a minor character, usually depicted as shy but helpful, sometimes causing mischief with its burrowing. Its pure Ground typing gives it advantages against Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock, and Steel types, but it is notably weak to Water, Grass, and Ice.
