Nidoran Male, often simply called Nidoran, is a Poison-type Pokémon introduced in the very first generation of the franchise. This small, quadrupedal Pokémon is characterized by its light purple skin, large ears with green interiors, and a prominent toxic horn on its forehead. Nidoran Male is known for its keen sense of hearing, which it utilizes to detect predators and prey, often raising its ears out of tall grass to scan its surroundings. Its toxic horn serves as its primary defense mechanism, capable of injecting venom upon contact. Nidoran Male evolves into Nidorino starting at level 16, and then into Nidoking when exposed to a Moon Stone. In the games, Nidoran Male can be found in various grassy areas, highlighting its terrestrial habitat. Its counterpart, Nidoran Female, shares a similar appearance but has distinct evolutionary paths and stat distributions, making them a unique pair in the Pokémon world. Nidoran’s presence in the original 151 Pokémon solidifies its iconic status, appearing frequently in early anime episodes and being a staple for many trainers' teams in the Kanto region. Its evolution, Nidoking, is particularly celebrated for its powerful offensive capabilities and diverse move pool, making Nidoran Male an important foundational Pokémon for many competitive strategies.
