Scyther is a formidable Bug/Flying-type Pokémon first introduced in Generation I, making its debut in the very first Pokémon games, Pokémon Red and Blue. Known as the Mantis Pokémon, Scyther's design is heavily inspired by a praying mantis, characterized by its sharp, scythe-like forearms. It is a single-stage evolution in Generation I, but later gains an evolution into Scizor when traded holding a Metal Coat, and a new evolution, Kleavor, introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, when exposed to a Black Augurite. In the wild, Scyther are often found in lush forests and grasslands, where their green coloration provides excellent camouflage amidst the foliage. They are known for their incredible speed and agility, using their razor-sharp scythes not only for combat but also for cutting down trees and clearing paths. Scyther are highly territorial and aggressive, often engaging in fierce battles with other Pokémon to establish dominance. Their diet primarily consists of smaller Bug-type Pokémon, which they deftly slice with their blades. In the anime, Scyther has been featured prominently, notably as a powerful Pokémon owned by characters like Tracey Sketchit and Ash Ketchum. Its combination of speed, power, and distinct design has cemented its place as a fan favorite and a memorable part of the original 151 Pokémon.
