Raichu is an Electric-type Pokémon, the evolved form of Pikachu and the final evolution of Pichu. Introduced in Generation I, Raichu is known for its powerful electric attacks and its ability to store massive amounts of electricity in its tail. While often overshadowed by its pre-evolution Pikachu, Raichu holds its own as a formidable electric force. Alolan Raichu, a regional variant introduced in Generation VII, changes Raichu's typing to Electric/Psychic and gives it the unique ability to glide on its tail, which it uses like a surfboard. This adaptation is said to be due to eating too many sweet pancakes in the Alola region. Both forms exhibit playful and sometimes mischievous personalities, but are fiercely loyal to their trainers. Their natural habitat varies, with Kanto Raichu preferring forests and power plants, while Alolan Raichu is often found near beaches and towns in the tropical Alola region. In the games, Raichu is a fast special attacker, and Alolan Raichu adds psychic STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus) to its repertoire, making it effective against Fighting and Poison types. In the anime, Raichu has had several notable appearances, often showcasing its raw power against Ash's Pikachu. Culturally, Raichu represents the natural progression of Pikachu's power, offering an alternative to keeping Pikachu unevolved.
