Pupitar is a Rock/Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II, evolving from Larvitar at level 30 and evolving into the mighty Tyranitar at level 55. Known as the Hard Shell Pokémon, Pupitar is encased in an incredibly tough carapace, allowing it to withstand tremendous blows and to move by expelling compressed gas from its body, essentially jet-propelling itself. Its natural habitat includes mountains and rocky terrains, where it trains and prepares for its ultimate evolution. Pupitar’s diet consists primarily of minerals and rocks, which it grinds down to strengthen its already formidable shell. Behaviorally, it is an aggressive and powerful Pokémon, constantly seeking to grow stronger and showing little regard for its surroundings when moving. In the games, Pupitar often appears as a challenging mid-game evolution, foreshadowing the power of Tyranitar. In the anime, it has been featured in various episodes, typically highlighting its destructive power and its journey toward becoming a Tyranitar. Culturally, the Tyranitar line, including Pupitar, is revered as one of the most powerful pseudo-legendary Pokémon, often compared to Godzilla for its immense size and destructive capabilities. Its evolution from a small Larvitar into the behemoth Tyranitar is a popular narrative arc, symbolizing growth and untapped potential. Its dual Rock/Ground typing gives it resistances to Fire, Electric, Flying, and Poison, but also makes it notably weak to Grass, Water, Fighting, Ground, Ice, and Steel types.
