Porygon is a unique, artificially created Pokémon, classified as a Virtual Pokémon and a pure Normal type. Introduced in Generation I, Porygon was the first Pokémon to be created entirely by humans, designed for space exploration and later for digital tasks. Its original habitat is within computer systems and digital spaces, often found in labs or places with advanced technology. Porygon does not have a natural diet in the traditional sense, as it exists as data, but it can consume and process digital information. Its behavior is often described as mechanical and programmed, capable of moving freely in cyberspace. Porygon evolves into Porygon2 when traded holding an Up-Grade, and then into Porygon-Z when traded holding a Dubious Disc. As a Normal type, it is weak to Fighting-type moves and resistant to Ghost-type moves. In the games, Porygon is often a rare find, usually obtained through special events or in game corners. In the anime, it gained notoriety for an episode that caused seizures, leading to its controversial ban from future appearances, giving it a unique cultural significance.
