Pineco

Pineco is a Bug-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II, known for its distinct appearance resembling a pinecone. This small, unevolving Pokémon is typically found clinging to tree branches, often camouflaged among actual pinecones in forests and wooded areas. Its diet primarily consists of tree sap and small insects, which it patiently waits for while hidden. Pineco's behavior is characterized by its stillness; it remains almost entirely motionless until disturbed or threatened, at which point it can detonate itself as a defensive mechanism, albeit usually without serious harm to itself. In the games, Pineco evolves into Forretress when traded while holding a Metal Coat, or simply by leveling up in later generations. Its role in the anime is often that of a minor character, showcasing its unique defensive abilities. Pineco's sturdy, shell-like body provides excellent protection, making it a surprisingly resilient creature despite its small size.
