Pidgey

Pidgey is a Normal/Flying-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I, making its debut alongside the original 150. Known as the Tiny Bird Pokémon, Pidgey is one of the most common and recognizable Pokémon in the Kanto region, often encountered early in the games. Its natural habitat includes forests, grasslands, and suburban areas, where it can be seen foraging for insects and small seeds. Pidgey's behavior is characterized by its timid nature; it often hides in tall grass or trees, using its excellent directional sense to find its way home even when lost. It evolves into Pidgeotto at level 18, which then evolves into Pidgeot at level 36. As a Normal/Flying type, Pidgey is vulnerable to Electric, Ice, and Rock-type attacks but resists Grass and Bug types, and is immune to Ground-type moves. In the games, Pidgey and its evolutions are reliable early-game party members, offering good speed and a balanced movepool. In the anime, Ash Ketchum famously caught a Pidgeotto, which later evolved into Pidgeot, showcasing its loyalty and strength. Pidgey holds significant cultural importance as a symbol of the beginning of the Pokémon journey for many players, embodying the wonder and familiarity of the natural world within the Pokémon universe.
