Lotad, the Water Weed Pokémon, is a dual Water/Grass type creature introduced in Generation III. Found predominantly in fresh water ponds and lakes within the Hoenn region, Lotad is known for its lily pad-like head, which it uses to float on the water's surface. This unique adaptation allows it to absorb sunlight for energy while its feet remain submerged, making it a truly aquatic plant-like Pokémon. Its diet consists of algae and small aquatic organisms, which it sifts from the water. In the wild, Lotad often gathers in groups, gently drifting with the currents. This Pokémon evolves into Lombre, and then into Ludicolo, a lively and festive Pokémon. Lotad’s role in the games often involves being an early-game Water-type option, and it has appeared in the anime as both wild Pokémon and companions to various trainers, notably Brock in Pokémon Advanced Generation. Its cheerful demeanor and distinctive appearance have made it a memorable character, embodying the playful side of nature. Its dual typing provides interesting strategic advantages and disadvantages in battles, being both resistant to Water and Ground types, but vulnerable to Flying, Poison, and Bug types.
