Drampa is a unique Dragon/Normal type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII, native to the Alola region. Known as the Placid Pokémon, Drampa is characterized by its gentle and friendly nature, often found living in mountainous regions at altitudes of over 3,000 meters. They descend to the foot of the mountains to play with children, forming strong bonds. However, despite their usually calm demeanor, Drampa possess immense power and can become fiercely protective, unleashing devastating gales if provoked or if those they care about are threatened. Their design is inspired by traditional Chinese dragons, specifically the "long," which are benevolent and associated with water and weather. Drampa do not evolve from or into any other Pokémon, making them a standalone species. In the games, Drampa often appear as rare encounters or are tied to specific story events, highlighting their somewhat reclusive nature. In the anime, Drampa have been shown to be wise and nurturing figures, often guiding younger Pokémon or people. Their unique type combination gives them interesting matchups, being resistant to Fire, Water, Grass, and Electric, but weak to Fairy and Ice. Their role in the Pokémon world emphasizes the duality of peace and power, a common theme among Dragon-type Pokémon.
