Alolan Sandslash is an Ice/Steel-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII as part of the Alola region. This regional variant of the familiar Ground-type Sandslash adapted to the snowy mountains of Alola, developing an icy shell and steel claws. Alolan Sandslash evolves from Alolan Sandshrew, which sought refuge from volcanic eruptions by moving to colder climes. Unlike its Kanto counterpart, which is known for its burrowing abilities in desert environments, Alolan Sandslash thrives in frigid temperatures, using its sharp ice quills for both offense and defense. In the games, it is often found in areas like Mount Lanakila. Its unique typing gives it a different set of resistances and weaknesses compared to its original form, notably a 4x weakness to Fire and Fighting types but resistances to Normal, Flying, Bug, Rock, Steel, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy types, and an immunity to Poison. Alolan Sandslash has appeared in the Pokémon anime, showcasing its icy powers and distinct appearance.
