Vileplume, the Flower Pokémon, is a Grass/Poison type introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Gloom when exposed to a Leaf Stone, and is the final evolution of Oddish. Known for its massive, vibrant red petals, Vileplume's appearance is inspired by the Rafflesia arnoldii, a real-world flower famous for its size and strong odor. In the Pokémon world, Vileplume uses its petals to release potent pollen, which can be either incredibly beautiful and alluring or dangerously toxic. Its scent is said to be the strongest in the world, capable of inducing paralysis or even death in large doses. Vileplume often inhabits forests and grassy areas, preferring warm climates where its large flower can thrive. In the anime, Vileplume has appeared in various episodes, often showcasing its sleep-inducing or poisonous abilities, and is a recurring Pokémon for trainers like Erika, the Celadon City Gym Leader. Its unique dual typing provides both offensive and defensive advantages against common types like Water and Fairy, but also vulnerabilities to Fire and Flying attacks.
