Trevenant, the Elder Tree Pokémon, is a Ghost and Grass-type introduced in Generation VI. It is the evolved form of Phantump. According to Pokédex entries, Trevenant are the spirits of children who got lost and died in the forest, possessing old trees. They are known to be protective of the forest and its inhabitants, often guiding lost travelers out of the woods, but can become aggressive if their forest is threatened. Trevenant typically reside in ancient, dense forests, blending seamlessly with their surroundings due to their tree-like appearance. They communicate with other trees and Pokémon through their roots, forming a vast underground network. In the games, Trevenant’s unique typing gives it several resistances, including to Water, Electric, Grass, Ground, and Fighting, while being weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, Ghost, and Dark types. Its ability, Natural Cure, allows it to heal from status conditions upon switching out. Trevenant has also made appearances in the Pokémon anime, often depicted as a guardian of forests, emphasizing its gentle yet formidable nature. Its design, resembling an ancient, gnarled tree with a single red eye, gives it a distinct and memorable presence among Ghost-type Pokémon.
